Welcome to Benzina Cantina
Benzina Cantina is a Mexican restaurant, rooftop bar and function venue at 84 High Street, Preston. We serve tacos, burritos, nachos, margaritas and Micheladas, and pour one of the largest tequila and mezcal selections in Melbourne.
We’re a short walk from Preston Market, about ten minutes from Northland Shopping centre
Our Story
Benzina Cantina opened in 2018 on High Street, Preston. The building was a working garage before we got to it, and we kept most of what made it interesting – the industrial shell, the courtyard, the concrete. Then we filled it with colour, tequila and music.
The bar became the heart of the place, and it’s still where most nights end up. Over time we added the rooftop and Blowncrazy Bar, so the venue now runs from a quiet lunch in the courtyard to a full function upstairs.
We’re a neighbourhood venue first. Most of our regulars come from Preston, Thornbury, Reservoir and Northcote, and plenty have been coming since the first year.
At Benzina Cantina
The kitchen runs street-style tacos, burritos, nachos and share plates, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options marked on the menu. The bar pours frozen and shaken margaritas, Micheladas, and one of the largest tequila and mezcal ranges in Melbourne.
There are four spaces: the restaurant, the rooftop, the courtyard, and Blowncrazy Bar for private functions and late nights. Food packages start at $39 per person, and there’s no venue hire fee for 40 or more guests.
BLOWNCRAZY BAR
Blowncrazy Bar is our late-night and function space, in the same building. It’s open to the public Friday and Saturday from 6pm, and licensed for functions until 1am.
It holds 120 standing or 50 seated, with its own bar, bathrooms and DJ setup or you can bring your own. Available for private functions any day of the week including days the rest of the venue is closed for bookings of 40+. or more.
